What is the word I am looking for ?
I wrote to complain that at my bus stop, which has no railing where the bus is supposed to stop - bus drivers are pulling forward, out of the bus stop, in front of the railings, and passengers have a choice of precariously balancing between the railing, walk alone the tiny curb, until finally reaching the safety of the pavement - or simply walking directly into on-coming traffic traffic in front of the bus. The reply when the civil servant went to investigate included this phrase:
"As many Citybuses had only one door, it was not uncommon to see that passengers were alighting from that front door. "
